(The months of the year in Italian)
il mese = the month (singular)
i mesi = the months (plural)
l’anno * = the year
* When a masculine noun begins with a vowel (a, e, i, o, u), instead of using il (= the) as the masculine article before the noun, the contraction l’ is added to the beginning of it.

The Italian months of the year do NOT start with a capital letter as in English (unless they are at the beginning of a sentence).
